This private walking tour of Ancient Rome begins at the Colosseum. Your guide

, an archaeologist or art historian, will help you understand the history and the significance of this amazing monument and will take you inside to see where the gladiators fought to the death and where mock sea battles took place. Entering will be quick and easy as we will make reservations in advance to skip the long line at the entrance.

Going out of the Colosseum you will have time to admire the majestic Arch of Constantine, then the tour will continue going through the Roman Forum, the commercial, religious and political center of the ancient Romans. Here your private guide will tell you the history and the legends that will make come alive this marvellous archeological site. The itinerary will include: the Temple of Augustus where the funeral of Julius Caesar took place, the Via Sacra (Holy road) which is the most important road in Rome and the Curia, the meeting place of the Roman Senate.

We will then climb the Capitoline Hill to have a panoramic view (and great photo opportunities) of the Imperial Fora and from there reach the Piazza del Campidoglio, the Renaissance square designed by Michelangelo. The tour will have a perfect end here, right in front of the majestic equestrian statue of Emperor Marcus Aurelius.

If you wish to have an extended tour, it is possible to include the visit to the Palatine Hill where the legend says that the twins founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus, were found as newborns and fed by the she-wolf. An excavation done in 2007 uncovered a room that may be the mythological Lupercal, the place where Romulus and Remus were found. With this extension you will see the Palatine Stadium, the House of Augustus and the House of Domitian.
