Description:
This private daytrip from Milan will make you discover Lake Como with its romantic sceneries, the charming town of Bellagio and the centuries-old elegant villas.
The excursion will begin with a private driver pick-up from your hotel in Milan (or another specified location, such as the central station) with a Mercedes sedan or minivan. In about one hour, you will reach Lake Como and continue driving along the scenic lake where you will pass by George Clooney’s Villa in the town of Laglio before stopping at your first destination, Villa Balbianello. Modern audiences recognize the Villa as the luxurious lakeside residence seen in both Star Wars (Episode II Attack of the Clones) and 007 Casino Royale. Before gaining its place in cinematic history, it served as the site of a Franciscan monastery in the late 1700s and home to the wealthy Visconti family. You will have time to stroll the villas well-tended lush gardens, admire the architecture and take photos of the incredible vista.
Your driver will then take you to the Villa Carlotta, which lies between the towns Tremezzo and Cadenabbia. If you wish, you may visit the Villa’s renowned museum before snaking through the colorful formal Italian botanical gardens that line the lake.
From Villa Carlotta, you will proceed with a scenic ferry ride that will give you wonderful views of the lake shores and surrounding mountains from the water. The driver will take care of the tickets and timetables. The ferry ride will arrive in the sophisticated town of Bellagio. You will have free time to soak up the town’s legendary panorama, shop at world-class stores, admire the centuries-old architecture and have a relaxing lunch with typical food of the region (we will be happy to give you some suggestions and book a table for you).
If time allows, your driver will then bring you to neoclassical Villa Melzi d"Eril, just south of Bellagio. The estate’s main attraction is its lush gardens that line the water and spiral up to the house. The garden exudes romance and history with Egyptian sculptures, Roman statues, a Japanese lily pond and exotic trees. After your visit, the tour will conclude and your private driver will take you back to your hotel in Milan or other location agreed.
Since this is a private tour, we can customize the itinerary any way you wish. We can include the lovely town of Varenna, where you may visit the stunning Villa Monastero. Or we can add a stop in the lively town of Como. Contact us if you would like a personalized itinerary.
PRIVATE BOAT TOUR - If you wish it is possible to include a private boat tour of Lake Como. You will board a private luxury boat in Cernobbio or Tremezzo, from there we will cruise along the coast of the lake and admire the beautiful villas and scenery. You can take a one hour boat tour: this is a fun experience that will give you the opportunity to enjoy the amazing views from the water. You may also take a two hours boat tour: thanks to the longer duration you will be able to reach Villa Balbianello from the water, dock at the pier and visit the villa. You will then continue the cruise on the lake on your private luxury boat, pass by Comacina Island and finally reach the lovely town of Bellagio where you will be dropped-off. After a stroll in Bellagio your driver will take you back to Milan. The boat tour is an additional experience that you may include in the itinerary by choosing from the options menu (located in the reservation box in the upper right part of the page).
WINERY VISIT - It is also possible to include a wine tasting experience: we will stop in one of the wineries of the region, where you will have a visit of the estate and a tasting of the wines they produce. This is an optional stop that you may include in the itinerary (from the options menu located in the booking box in the upper right part of the page).
WINTER SCHEDULE: During the months from mid October to end of March some of the villas may be closed and the boat option may not be available. You will be informed of the revised itinerary at the time of booking and if you wish you may cancel the tour and have an immediate and full refund

Please note that in order to reach Villa Balbianello you will need to walk for about 15 minutes through the park (as your driver cannot enter by car in the park). We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
