This private tour of Mount Etna and Taormina will start with your driver/guide meeting you at your hotel in Catania.

On board a 4WD vehicle you will travel to the Etna Park and ascend the Northern side of Mount Etna. Your first stop will be in proximity of the volcano’s extinct craters, here you will have the opportunity to take a walk on the edge of the craters and learn how a volcano is structured and how an eruption takes place. After this easy walk you will board again your 4x4 and travel towards one of Etna’s lava caves where, equipped with helmets, flashlights and ropes you will descend in the cave and admire the solidified lava flow. The next stop of your private excursion will be the lovely Valle del Bove that offers a great view over the surrounding landscape. It will then be time for lunch in a typical mountain cabin at around 1700m altitude on mount Etna (please note this lunch is not included in the price of the tour).

As an alternative option, instead of stopping for lunch in the mountain cabin you can enjoy a visit to a winery located on the slopes of the volcano. Here you can see the estate, the vineyards, have a wine tasting and lunch with local specialties. After lunch you will reach Taormina, a lovely hilltop town in eastern Sicily, famous for its spectacular views on the sea, ancient Greco-Roman theater and the beautiful city center. Once in Taormina you will have free time to explore the town on your own, your driver will be happy to give you some information and useful tips for your visit. After Taormina you will meet your driver who will take you back to your hotel in Catania.

This will be a private tour, you will not be part of a group. You will have a local private driver/guide with great experience of the area and a 4WD vehicle entirely dedicated to you.

The hiking part of the tour is easy and will be adjusted to the experience and conditions of the participants. In any case, please inform us in advance for any physical limitation or health issue you may have
